In Clairton, there is so much pride. People look out for each other. Kids are talented, funny, and full of ideas.
At The Neighborhood Academy, students are on a different but equally demanding path. It is a school where expectations are high, support is constant, and 100% of students graduate, with most continuing on to college. Many earn scholarships. But like Clairton, many students come from under-resourced communities where the path forward is not always easy.
Across both schools, students are working hard to build a future. Summer can either accelerate that progress or interrupt it.
Last summer, our Clairton students told us something we cannot ignore. When we asked, “In general, do you feel safe and happy?” 40% said only “most of the time” or “not usually.” That is a lot of young people carrying more than they should.
Here is what gave us hope. In that same summer program, we asked, “Do you feel safe and welcome here in our program?” Every single student said yes, all of the time.
That is what you are giving right now. A place to land.
When school ends, structure disappears for many students. The mentorship. The robotics lab. The career pathway momentum. The steady meals. For students in Clairton and students at The Neighborhood Academy, summer is a critical window to stay engaged, keep building skills, and continue moving toward their goals.
This campaign is simple: raise the funds we need before July 1, 2026 so students in Clairton and at The Neighborhood Academy do not lose access to the supports that keep them learning and progressing.
What your gift pays for (this is the work)
- Robotics kits and STEM materials so students can keep building, testing, and learning hands-on
- Career exposure and practical lessons for a wide range of healthcare careers
- Meals and snacks to combat food insecurity
- Transportation to field trips and career captures that expand what students believe is possible
- Support for real-life barriers families face like childcare needs, materials, and internet access
We are asking you to support these Kindergarten through 9th grade students that need some critical things this summer: a safe space, continued learning, caring adults, exposure to careers they have never heard of, time to play and be physically active, healthy snacks, and the chance to be celebrated when they succeed.
If you believe students in Clairton and at The Neighborhood Academy deserve to stay supported, challenged, and on track this summer, please give today. Your gift before July 1, 2026 keeps the doors open, the mentors present, and the pathways moving forward.
